VCS Dress Code
This uniform is important and non-negotiable when attending school. The VCS dress code guidelines aim to assist parents in meeting uniform expectations. This dress code ensures a unified and respectful school environment.
VCS DRESS CODE 2026
This uniform is important and non-negotiable when attending school.
1. CLOTHING
Grade R pupils:
- Special VCS Grade R T-shirts.
- Navy PT Shorts or warm navy tracksuit pants or navy jeans in winter
- Tekkies or bare feet
Grade 1 – 7 pupils:
- GIRLS:
- VCS Skorts (Stone colour)
- Long or short-sleeved white collared shirt
- VCS Jersey or pullover
- VCS Tracksuit (winter)
- Short white socks OR navy tights (winter)
- Black school shoes
- BOYS:
- VCS Shorts or long pants (Stone colour)
- Long or short-sleeved white collared shirt
- VCS Jersey or pullover
- VCS Tracksuit (winter)
- Long navy VCS socks (available at clothing shop)
- Black school shoes
- PT Days:
- Navy VCS golf shirt / Eagle sports golf shirt
- Navy PT shorts
- VCS Tracksuit
- Tekkies (predominantly white/navy/black)
- GENERAL GUIDELINES:
- School shoes are compulsory for Chapel on Mondays. Bare feet allowed on other days.
- No underwear or vests may be visible. White vests (summer/thermal, long/short sleeve are permitted when worn under the white shirt)
- Tracksuits may be worn in winter with the white school shirt and school shoes. Tracksuit pants may not be worn independently from the jacket. If days get warmer, please pack a pair of shorts for your child to change into at break time.
- NO TEKKIES ALLOWED (except on PT days)
- PT uniform is only to be worn on days when your child has Physical Education
2. HAIR AND NAILS
- Girls: Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back and must be kept clear of the eyes at all times. Only navy or white hair accessories.
- Boys: Must at all times be presentable and well-kept. (short and neat – off the collar, ears and eyebrows)
- General: Hair must be kept clear of the eyes at all times; must be washed and groomed regularly; must remain a consistent natural colour. No streaks, highlights, lowlights or multiple tones are permitted. No specialised cuts like lightning bolts, etc. are allowed.
- Gel: Is permitted in small amounts to keep hair neat.
- Lice and Nits: Check your child’s hair regularly. A lice/nit infestation can spread quickly amongst pupils. Should lice or nits (eggs) be found on a pupil’s head, the pupil will be sent home and may only return to school after the prescribed treatment has been carried out successfully and all traces of nits and lice are removed. This is in accordance with health regulations.
- Nails: Please make sure your child’s nails are cut short (boys and girls). No girl is allowed to come to school with long nails and/or nail polish.
3. JEWELLERY
Girls Earrings: If ears are pierced, only a single pair of small sleepers or studs may be worn (gold or silver only). Earrings are to be worn only in a hole on the lobe. No ear stretchers are permitted.
Boys Earrings of any kind are not permitted.
Watches: Wrist watches are to be of a conservative style. Smart watches are worn at the risk of the wearer.
Chains and Neckwear of any kind are not permitted. Chains may only be for medical reasons. Jewellery is not permitted when playing sport.
Bracelets of any kind are not permitted. Medic-Alert bracelets may be worn.
4. SPORT UNIFORM
This uniform is important and non-negotiable when participating in the various sports. A tracksuit is a necessity for pupils doing sport and can be purchased at the clothing shop.
- Athletics / Cross Country: White VCS Golf Shirt / Athletics vest and navy PT short.
- Cricket: White VCS Golf Shirt, navy PT short, long white socks (seniors) / long navy school socks (juniors) with tekkies.
- Netball: VCS Netball Dress, short white socks with tekkies.
- Rugby: Navy PT short. Some rugby jerseys are provided by the school.
- Soccer: White VCS Golf Shirt, navy PT short, long white socks with boots / tekkies.
- Tennis: White VCS Golf Shirt, navy PT short, short white socks with tekkies.
5. OUTINGS:
- Formal school uniform or PT uniform, depending on the type of outing. Teacher to confirm prior to the outing.
6. CONCLUSION:
- Regular uniform checks will take place throughout the year. Please ensure your child meets the above criteria at all times.
