Dress Code
The following dress code guidelines aim to assist parents in meeting uniform expectations. Adherence to the uniform policy is mandatory for all students attending school. This dress code ensures a uniļ¬ed and respectful school environment.
General Guidelines
Footwear
Uniforms must be worn with takkies or bare feet. Takkies should be paired with navy or white socks only.
Visibility
No visible underwear or vests. White vests (summer/thermal, long/short sleeves) may be worn under VCS golf shirts. Dark vests are allowed under dark shirts.
Unacceptable Items
- Bare midriffs, visible underwear, and short shorts.
- Headgear in classrooms, denims, colourful tights, colourful socks.
- Non-uniform (civvies) clothing, except on birthdays.
Uniform Requirements
Grade R:
- Specialised T-shirts purchased from the school shop
- Navy PT shorts or the school tracksuit.
Grades 1-7
- Boys : Navy PT shorts or khaki shorts with a navy or white VCS golf shirt. VCS tracksuit for winter.
- Girls: Navy PT shorts, khaki shorts, or skort with a VCS golf shirt. VCS tracksuit for winter.
Hair Policy
- Girls:
- Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back.
- Hair must be clear of the eyes at all times.
- Only navy or white hair accessories are allowed.
- Boys:
- Hair must be short, neat, off the collar and ears, and clear of the eyes.
- General
- Hair must be clean, well-groomed, and a consistent natural color.
- No streaks, highlights, lowlights, or multiple tones are permitted.
- Small amounts of gel are allowed to keep hair neat.
- Lice and Nits:
- Regular checks are required.
- Pupils with lice or nits will be sent home and may return only after effective treatment and removal of all traces
Outings
- Pupils attending outings must wear a VCS golf shirt with navy PT shorts or tracksuit.
- Tracksuits are weather-dependent.
Visit the VCS clothing shop to purchase the school uniform.
Jewellery Policy
Girls:
- Only one pair of small sleepers or studs (gold or silver) worn on the earlobes is permitted.
Boys:
- Earrings are not permitted.
Watches:
- Must be conservative in style.
Chains and Neckwear:
- Not allowed except for medical reasons.
- Jewellery is prohibited during sports activities
Bracelets:
- Not permitted except medic-alert bracelets.
Sports Uniform
A tracksuit is essential for all pupils participating in sports and can be purchased from the school shop. Specific requirements include:
Soccer:
- Blue PT shorts, white VCS golf shirt, long white socks, boots or takkies.
Cricket:
- Blue PT shorts, white VCS golf shirt, long white socks, takkies.
Hockey:
- Blue PT shorts, white VCS golf shirt, long white socks, takkies.
Netball:
- VCS netball kit purchased from the school shop.
Rugby:
- Blue PT shorts with a blue golf shirt for warm-ups. Rugby jerseys are provided by the school
Tennis:
- Blue PT shorts, white VCS golf shirt, short white socks
Athletics:
- VCS athletics kit available from the school shop.
